ALABAMA!!

Hello!
I am here in Alabama- in Dora, actually, but I do not know how to change my location under my name.
I used to be in Michigan, but I have been here for three years.
I come from Hotlanta, but got tired of the chaos and crime. Been here for 10 years and love it.

There are a lot of people here tied to Michigan. Something to do with auto industry jobs for the baby boomer generation. Now, i think Alabama has more auto industry jobs than Michigan. Lol.

Anyway, welcome!

For anyone in the Marshall county area that may be interested in some nice Coronation Sussex growouts....check it out. I'm already getting a pair. These are not culls and are unrelated.

I'm in Red Level, Alabama just 10 minutes east of Andalusia.. Moved here last year (about this time) and started clearing 1.6 acres when I found the old dog pen (now the chicken coop). Need to make an album of some photos I've taken of my coming 7 week old kids. Golly they do grow fast and are a blast to watch. Yesterday we got rain so I watched to see what they would do. First off they laid down at the base of the Japanese privet (tree sized) as the cooler dark atmosphere approached. Then as it drizzled they were unphased until the drizzle became drops and then sheets of rain.. They quickly scurried to their familiar tubs (now laying on their sides) and bedded down while it rained. They were out and about checking out what the clouds had left them as soon as the rain passed. So great to have and watch critters that have more common sense than a lot of people I've seen. Two of my kids in the attached image.

Shew wee; cleaned out the chicken house today and put up another light over the roost. Now I'm tired and don't want to cook supper. Oh well chicken fajitas tonight, that will be simple. So tell me if I messed up, I put cedar chips on the floor afterwards, it sure smelled better, but it may be hard to scoop up next time i clean it out? Hope all had a good day, I did, nothing like a hard days work to make you rest better at night, and my chickens will also. Talk at you later.

I read somewhere (can't remember) that cedar chips/shavings are not very good for bedding. I used pine instead. When I can get a bale of hay, I'll start using that instead. I don't like seeing them try to eat it.
