under a broody, figured I couldn't mess that up! Watch, they will probably all be roosters! But, yes, this time is better but not great. I put 22 in the incubator and pulled 6 yesterday. Of the ones that are left, I saw movement in 3 for sure. I am hoping that I found the problem and have it straightened out! Where did your new eggs come from?

Lisa,
I got the eggs from a lady here on byc, she's in west virginia i think. I've been setting all the darkest eggs from my marans, so I don't have room for them in the one incubator, guess I gotta start the other one up. I am having NO luck getting my bantam faverolles eggs to hatch. I wish I could trust those broody welsummers to hatch them, but they're too flaky.

The broody BO I have is doing a GREAT job with your eggs. I will loan her out if she goes broody again! LOL! I had a guinea try to stay on the nest in the woods tonight. I had to run her off the nest and into the coop. The coons will find the nest, sooner or later. I can't take the chance of letting her sit. It's a shame, though, they make great broodies, very committed and fierce. If you get a chance, pop over to the Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatch, it's a crazy bunch of BYCers but friendly and we can always use more input. There are some that are already getting pips and some that have just set. We are "cooking" turkeys, chickens (turkey tutors) and emus! Come hang!
