Sweet serama and silkies!

Almost there... almost there...

Angles look wonky, promise they're all level haha. It's because the roof is slanted. They're all about 3 1/2 feet long. Top one got about 12 inches of head room in the lowest part.. It's not too bad. I've got 3 bags of sweet PDZ to put underneath. Not sure yet what I'm doing with the other section. Maybe a piece of vinyl or something I can hose off easily.

May add another step to their ladder, but we'll see. Could just put a cinderblock or something so they can keep their beak and nails down as well. Today they had no interest in it whatsoever, but it is only the second time outside so they were too busy checking out the grass.

They were flying and chasing eachother, saw a few chest bumping already! Mr.Roo was trying to keep everyone in line. And now they're all passed out in their brooder. Turned the light off since it's 70some degrees inside.

Yes it is Hennyhandler! Two have pipped so far! Hopefully I will wake up to silkie chicks tomorrow!

Wait you have Egg hatching and can actually sleep now

I am having the "hubby doesn't get chicken math blues!"  :hit

My dh is freaking out because of all the eggs I told him in all likelihood we would end up with two pullets but I have my fingers crossed for more.

I guess we must have a rooster or something.. and they're hatching chicks behind our backs.. *nod*

"But honey, all our chickens are red.. and those new ones are grey!"

Something like that.. right? Or well, she'd have them hiding behind furniture and in the oven. Reminds me of the curious George episode where he orders 100 dozen donuts.. (can you tell I'm a mom? )

I wish I could go. It's just too far for me to ask anyone here at home to take me. Maybe next year with a little luck.

I know I'm sad too I can't go. Although I do get to have fun that week. One lovely kid free job free people free stress free week. And I won't have to plan anything until my nieces birthday in may. A funeral Easter and wedding all in a months time.

I am enjoying the hatchling photos. I'm now convinced I need an incubator when I get moved out there! I've only purchased chicks or let my broody hatch chicks. I do admit that I love it when the chicks grow up outside with mama. No cleaning involved!

Hello all. Many of you may know about the annual Alabama Chicken and Egg Festival, but I just happened to run across it by accident. It's in its 9th year located in Moulton, AL (Northwest Alabama) and looks like a lot of fun. The dates this year are April 12-14.

Here is a link: http://www.alabamachickenandeggfestival.com/
