Hi, I am new chicken owner from North Carolina. I have had the girls since the beginning of April. At least I hope they are girls. How do you tell the sex? Is it too early to tell?

At that age it's hard to tell. Sometimes they'll show clear signs, like a red comb at two weeks old (my rooster did that!). Legs that are thicker than the others are signs of a boy... Sometimes behavior can be a sign. Some chicks just act 'like a rooster'.

Around 8-10 weeks they start crowing, so a little patience is needed. And even then, you can still have a stealth rooster. Mine are 9-10 weeks and I still have a few that I just am not sure about.. Once I get some eggs I will know for sure

Welcome from walker county, and back into the chicken business!

you should post pictures of your mystery chicks, everyone usually has good fun in trying to guess what breed something is. The month old mark is a lot of fun! I bet you guys have a great time watching the peeps interact!

This yellow chick, which has brown throug out it's body.

Oh TomTom I was almost positive I could tempt you with the jersey roos! Drat! Let me know if you change your mind!

I've got two Jersey ladies.. Mr. Roo turned out to be an aussie (he's got his little lady).

I would loooove to put my Jerseys with a roo. They're such docile birdies.
