ALABAMA!!

My Pekin hen passed away. I don't know what happened to her. I hate ducks as general rule, but I got attached to her during her year with us.
So sorry. How old? I don't know much about ducks, but hate to lose any of our babies. Did you hatch her?

Yes, TomTom...I think it would definitely be better for the cats if they were to not meet the chickens but better for the chickens if they don't meet the dogs. I'm pretty sure the chickens could easily kick butt on our lazy cats but the dogs are a completely different story.

As to visiting with the chickens, my cats are indoor only, so they won't be paying any visits. The cats were all adopted while we lived in the city so they are not the slightest bit outdoor savvy. I don't trust them not to get themselves maimed or killed should I let them out. That doesn't stop them from trying though.

Agreed with the dogs. That's what I get for not reading carefully

My cats are indoor only, only they never got the memo. I gave up. They've been eating the local wildlife (lizards), peeing in my veg patches, sitting on my car and have began to hop fences

Seriously, cats can be so aggrevating. One darts out the front foor ALL the time, the other is learning to do the same, but he's rather fat and slow. Scoot is a rescue that spent his first year living in a field near Huntsville, likely eating whatever he could catch. Hard to get that out of them. He used to whine at the door to use the cat box. Peeing outside wasn't his thing. Not sure what changed, apparently peeing in my veggies is ok now.

I'm in trouble with them, they're starting to stay outside overnight if they have the chance. Binky is an idiot and likely to get himself killed. Scoot fights for territory with the neighbor cats. He had a really bad abcess on his hip from a fight before.

...Cats.

We have a mystery on our hands. Someone came into our yard and put a bag full of really pretty eggplants on the trunk of my mom's car.

We have no idea who did it and no one in the house knows where they came from. We can't even thank them.

Agree on dogs versus chickens. The chickens lose every time. I lost a flock (15 birds) to a couple of dogs about three weeks ago. It depends on the breed of dog, though. The chicken killers were part lab (bird dogs). On the other hand, my dog is an old hound dog that couldn't have cared less about the birds. I now have a mix of 29 chicks in the coop so I'm starting all over. I made a couple of modifications the the coop to further dog-proof it and will have to do the same to the run before I let the newbies out into it.
