ALABAMA!!

Thanks. Im going crazy hatching them going to run out of room fast. Had 13 hatch a few days ago now I have 15 new ones :) and my bator is still full. I came up with a good idea since I never had enough to fill the whole incubator. I have one bator that I have 2 sets of eggs hatching at different times then I have another that is just for hatching. Works for me :)

Any ideas on how to divide the incubator so I know what chicks are from what eggs? Im hatching Paint,BBS, and Lavender Silkies all will have black chicks I need to know what are splits from what color.
I don't know how big is your incubator but one of the people in my orps group puts his eggs in different color plastic basket with tops on them. When the chicks hatch they stay seperated. I will have to go through the chat and see where he posted a picture of the basket.

There were a few posts a while back ive been trying to find about keeping eggs seperated during hatching using suet baskets... I cant seem to find the posts, ive went and bought the baskets though. But what i wanted to know was, what am i supposed to use to put inside the baskets to lay the eggs on? I believe someone said a wash cloth?

Thanks. Im going into lockdown monday so if i have to get anything this weekend when i go in town id like to make a list so i dont forget.

Would you mind reposting the picture please. Thank you!

I put my eggs in these with shelf liner in the bottom, and the eggs in carton bottoms. I also slip a length of panty hose over the whole basket. This keeps small chicks from poking their heads out as it is a tight fit. I don't think you need this with big Orp chicks, but it does work. Makes getting them out a pain though.

Hey there, I'm a new member from Centreville in Bibb County. I have 3 Buff Orpingtons and 2 EEs, all coming up on 6 weeks old. So far I'm loving being a new chicken mom.....several of you were talking about having trouble sleeping. I'm currently couching it at 2 am so as to not wake the hubby. Again. Bummer.
