Wow, arab is not that far from me. Scary thought. Some people should not get the chance to stay alive.

On a side note I am wanting to sale my porcelain bearded d'uccle hens(3). If anyone is interested let me know. I would be interested in trades, even chicks. Would really be interest in silver or golden laced wyandottes.

Just out of curiosity has anyone here in north Alabama had several tons of sand delivered to use in their coop and/or run? I need about 14 tons but I really don't want to have to take out a second mortgage to pay for it. The sand is dirt cheap, if you'll pardon the pun, but the delivery is outrageous. Unfortunately, I don't own my own dump truck or I'd go get it myself.

Yes it was for you, sorry. I don't know where I saw Cisco!! There is no reason there can't be a pop door in the solid wall on the north side of the coop. It would leave the run in at least some shade all day. The Southern exposure should be all wire. The only thing that worries me about the nest boxes on the west side is if it is in the afternoon sun, they could get unbearably hot. Now, if they are in the shade, that's another matter.......!

it's okay, I've been called worse I've had to do some maneuvering... the way the metal structure is set up now, the south side faces the road. So the east side is drawn up being the open side, the south side has the boxes and the west side has the people door. It does sit under a huge oak tree, and tree lines have it in morning and afternoon shade. The carport is 19'x19' and I'm looking at 4'x19' coop using one side of it. I'd love for the whole thing to be used for chickens, but hubs isn't in complete agreement... appreciate the replies, I want to make sure I do this right the 1st time.

On a side note, I had an individual tell me a 42"x42" coop was suitable for 10 chickens. (he was attempting to sell me the coop) I may be a newbie at this, but that's nowhere near right!!

Yeah Now I'm near adrmore and hazel green. Hoping to be fully in tn by the end of the month providing I can manage to find a rental up there :/ the whackjob lives outside of arab in union grove. The buying part hasnt been the problem so much really, itsbeen the rental crap causing the headaches. We're going to have to rent for 18-20 months until that will be complete tho. guh. i need a bang head here sign

I got my first hatching eggs today and they went in the bator at 6 pm! Count down begins!!! I am so excited! Can't wait to see my new little chickies!

Help! My neighbor's chicken has been brooding for over a month. My neighbor is afraid of being pecked so I have to get the chicken off the nest. What do I need to do to get this chicken to stop brooding? I have her off the nest tonight and she won't be able to get to it until tomorrow.
