U got wishers chicks right? I want to get some of her marans, ees, and the f1 olive eggers i read about on a diff thread today. What all did u get?

I sure did! I highly recommend her babies. I just can't believe how quickly they grow! I want some marans and olive Eggers myself, lol! I got 9 EEs, who are my favorites, and 6 Black Orpingtons. I got the Black Os for the large meat bird and large brown eggs. I was going to only get them, but she told me about those pastel eggs, and I was hooked! I'm so glad I got the EEs now! Pretty sure I have 5 of six BOs boys, but I think I may only have 2-3 EE roosters. I try to handle each one each day, and the EEs are much sweeter, quicker to calm down and don't SCREAM like my BOs do when I pick them up, lol!

I bought some brahmas off craigslist as my first and only chicks so far. Can hardly believe we kept em alive. Im going to try incubating soon. Been reading up on it. Reading about aircells, pipping, peeping, zipping is pretty interesting.

Oh cool! I haven't read much about the brahmas yet since i was interested in large birds to eat, but they're so many cool varieties! Yeah I really want to get an incubator within the next year myself. I was going to start with hatching eggs, but the roommate didn't still have their incubator. I'm glad though, I like that I started with chicks first, get the hang of that!

It's very interesting. I'm incubating a dozen eggs with a CHEAP homemade incubator right now just to see how it will work out. This is the first time with chicken eggs. I can see why people get addicted to hatching eggs. It's very neat watching the chicks grow in the eggs. And I can't believe how forgiving the eggs can be because I have had several temperature spike as well as the humidity going all over the board. I'm at day 14 and so far 11 of 12 eggs are still good. The finally test will comes in 1 week when the chicks are due to hatch. Wish me luck.
