ALABAMA!!

Well, it seems like I'm not getting my silkies after all. The person gave me 3 silkies. My parents picked them up and were keeping them until I had a chance to get the silkies from them. Unfortunately they let the silkies free range in the yard with their dog. Need I say more.

Awwww :(

Thanks, @Wisher1000 . My grandfather always kept them confined to new coop for a few days and then they would get used to the routing of being put up every night. For the first week or so, I bribe mine in with some cabbage at the same exact time and they get used to the routine and go in on their own when they see me come out to put them up for the night. My daughter has trained our latest bunch of young ones with a whistle. She would blow the whistle every night when she would go out to feed them before she'd put them up and now when she blows the whistle and walks towards them they all run into the coop. It's so funny!

Thanks! Now to get the chickens to actually use it! I had to put them in the coop last night because they wanted to sleep huddled up in the corner out in the run. Any suggestions?
I had the same problem. They huddled in a corner. I put them in the coop last night (It is a job trying to catch 15 chicks by yourself!) and opened the door this morning. I aslo put their food in the coop. My hope is they will associate the coop with food.
