Welcome to the group! I think in order to post pic you have to post a certain number of post first( I could be wrong). But "YES", please post pics!! Love to see pics!!!

Got a broody on my hands. She's been breaking eggs with her butt

I've got some really thin shells going on right now and some birds are laying really pale yolks. Really thinking my poor hatchery birdies are running out of steam. They're getting oyster shell, egg shells, fruit scraps, greens, free choice layena.. they should be fine, but they're not. They may be eating too much grower (I put it out for the younguns, but the adults like it too

Going to get 6 eggs tonight to put under her, Australorp/Marans mutts. Easier to let her do her thing than break her from her broodiness. It's the same one that hatched my two Ameraucanas last year.

I don't think you have had the hatchery birds for a long time either. How old are they?
Good luck on the eggs. Hopefully this year she will be mature enough wait until the eggs hatch before she leave the nest.

They're a little over a year. I think it's the white rocks. They've been an egg a day layers since they were 20 weeks old. The yolks are really weirdly pale. Paler than grocery store eggs. Thin shells too. Ofcourse it's also a white rock that's broody..

I just put the eggs in a dog crate and showed them to her. She walked right over to them, had this look in her eyes, and gently sat on them. Yay! Now what the heck I'll do with more chicks.. I don't know

Hey guys! I been away to help out my family, and I have missed so much, my chicks have grown so big its hard to believe. The first batch are already on their own. I was like "No"its too soon!
Something funny though, my chickens are racist! Two of my hens hatched one solid white chick each, the rest are red and the poor lil white babies kept getting beat up , it got so bad I had to segregate them. Chickens are so funny!

Does that look like a hen butt to y'all? That one is the bully of the bunch easily twice the size of the other Wyandottes and bigger than the leghorns that are 6 weeks older. Keeps pulling the tail feathers off the others it's age. Won't mess with the leghorns though they'll kick it's butt.
