Misty have u looked in the pike road area. Its a really nice community outside of montgomery city limits. The schools are good too

Hi Misty! Welcome to Alabama! There are MANY rural areas surrounding Maxwell. Pick up a "Mule Trader" magazine and also a "Bulletin Board" at a gas station. Outside the city limits of Montgomery is very rural. Prattville is a beautiful area and Verbena. I don't think you'll have any problems finding a an unincorporated location to have chickens in the yard. Good luck!

ummm......... YES! The blacks and blues are orps and 13 of the little buggers hatched before some evil thing came out of the woods and took my Winston. I've got a couple different options to replace him, but I'm enjoying the girlies in all of their fine feathers and their beautiful brown eggs are tasty.

The chipmunk brown guys are Red Dorkings -- a fairly rare heritage table bird in need of preservation if anyone is looking to take on a project. Eye candy orps and Red Dorkings for your Sunday morning pleasure...

And while we are on the subject of babies, I have a couple of Amelia's ducklings still available. I won't take them all from her, so some juveniles will be available in the fall.

Thank you Orps -- he was a fine bird, and I'm happy to have some of his kids. They are a side project but a farm favorite for everyone that comes to visit.

I was away on farm visits and researching Dorkings in Pennsylvania. Had the chance to chat with SPPA President, Craig Russell and learn more about them but came home to a board rotted away from the 2x4 and a ton of feathers where something had drug and 11 lb. cock through a hole at bottom of fence. They are locked up tight now.

This is a bit off subject, but does anyone know where I can get wooden pallets for free or very little? I'm in the Haleyville area, Winston county, very close to Marion county.

Keep an eye out for businesses that have them stacked or piled outside. They will usually give them to you if you ask. It all depends on the types of businesses you have close to you. Don't pay for them, that defeats the purpose of using pallets!! Good luck!
