I completely understand and would be happy to meet you. PM me and we can set something up. As we are just starting I'm just excited to get birds/eggs, but would LOVE some lavenders if you know of anywhere I can find them. Other than that we just want a nice mix of birds, I know sounds crazy, but we think it will be fun. We are not interested in breeding for selling, or bloodlines per say. But again we are new to all this stuff...lol. Thanks so much for your reply.
 
Hey y'all! I'm still fairly new here and just found this Alabama thread... we are located in Fayetteville (just outside of Childersburg in Talladega county). Nice to see some local folks!

We currently have 10 3 month old BCM x's, 1 BR roo (that the man I bought him from was POSITIVE was a hen), a white silkie trio, 1 black australorp that just started laying, 2 white rock hens, 2 EE pullets that should be laying any day now and (per yesterdays candling) 56 viable eggs in the incubator that go on lockdown Tuesday. I ordered those eggs from a breeder and they are a mix of BR's, EE's, SLW's, Red Stars, White Rocks, and California Whites.

We also have 5 pygmy goats, a standard rex rabbit, 2 cats, and 4 children. :)

I posted under the feed thread but was wondering if anyone would like to go in on a soy-free non-gmo feed. Our local mill will mix up custom recipes but requires 1000 lbs or so to do it. His ingredients are supposedly raised organic, just not certified. Also, it may be that there is no "protein source" in the feed and the protein has to be added in at home, since he may not have a protein alternative to replace the soy (he has fish meal but I am not sure how I feel on that). I am contemplating sprouting, meal worms, and flax to replace the soy protein.

I also found that Countryside will ship a full pallet for like $138 for 2000 lbs and you get $2 off per bag. That makes shipping about $3.50 per bag vs the higher shipping I have found online.

Dan2 - I was just funnin' with you, I have 30 and thought I had a lot! You will find that I am prone to pulling a leg here and there. I understand the bio-security concern, but I like having visitors, so I use a shallow pan with diluted bleach and ask my visitors to just wet the soles of their shoes as they arrive. If they don't understand, they likely don't know if their birds are healthy or not.........

Did not know about it. If you don't mind passing the info on I will put it on my calendar and try to go. Sounds like fun!!!!
