ALABAMA!!

I'm just going to have to get some better wire then and put over the chicken wire!

Hardware cloth is best (especially at those prices!) but 2x4 welded wire, or dog wire as we call it, will work on the outside of your chicken wire. It keeps my LF in just fine, but when there are chicks, it drives the hens nuts because the chicks can hop in and out without them!

A downside it that it will not stop rats, mice, squirrels, snakes, or mink. My plan is to add the hardware cloth to the bottom all the way around, then work my way up as I can afford it.

If dogs are the problem, a good stiff hot wire might keep them away from the chicken wire. You can use rebar as posts and insulators to keep the wire off the metal. Put it at nose level.

If anyone is interested, I just put this on CL. I need to free up some pen space. Please pm me for details :frow

They are beautiful birds!!! Wish I had my coop up already and I would get a few. I may contact you later in the season to see if you still have any available.

Hey guys looking for some Ameraucanas and EE's in Alabama. Looking for pullets not chicks. Anybody? Any help sure would be appricated.

I think my 4 hens will live inside their 8'x8' shed coop for a while until I get the wire reinforced. They are very happy in there and normally spend part of the day in there anyways.

And on a happier note its 64 days til the Moulton Chicken and Egg Festival.
Hey, does anyone know anyone who is working on that event? I have e-mailed them twice through the "contact us" tab on the web site and no one has contacted me back. I have not tried calling the numbers provided, I thought I would look for an inside connection, first.
