Hey wisher, I took it that you were funnin'. Think nothing of it.I have had too many birthday cakes to let such get to me.
I am certainly sorry if I came across as if I were offended. As you get to know me you will find me somewhat of a mess/leg puller.
The disinfectant thing, several of my friends do also. I reckon I am just a cry baby. Maybe at some point I can be as brave.lol
I would be willing to wear a hazmat suit if it meant I could come see your flock!

Thanks so much, BSisco!  Wow, you got a deal on your house!  How long ago did you buy, and how many acres do you have, if you don't mind me asking?  Do you like it there?  Where are you from, originally?
We bought in June of 2011 and moved down here from just north of Nashville where we lived for 13 years. My husband is from there originally and I'm from the Denver area. We have 6 acres, most of it wooded, but we love it here. Our neighbors are great and we have made some really great friends. It's just working through the kinks of the school system and that kind of stuff. Growing pains that you find anywhere...lol

Just got a phone call from the hubby.... Stupid schnauzer killed all 3 of my babies. She is getting rehomed to the pound in the morning (we won't have an animal who kills for no reason, even my cat left them alone) and the hubby and son are cleaning it up for me before I get home. Can't stop crying, they were only 5 days old, but we all loved them so much. Hubby and I went to sleep listening to cheeps.... Gonna miss my little fuzz heads, and no more have hatched out.

Guess it's off to TSC after stupid is gone....

We are renting. We live way outside of the town limits. Its a 20 minute drive to Somerville proper for us, takes just as long to get to south Huntsville. We are much closer to Lacey's Spring. Thats where the feed store I go to is, its 7 miles away.

Oh, BSis! I'm so sorry! That is so hard! If it is any consolation, anyone who has had chickens has had loses. They are at the end of the food chain and just about everything likes to eat them (even us!) I hate to hear that you are sending the pup to the pound. I have a chicken killing dog and it can work. The dog can't help being a dog. If it has been a good dog in every other area, please wait until you are not longer upset to make that decision.

Thanks for the kind words. It's not even supposed to be our dog, we were only supposed to dog sit until the original owner moved and got settled, he never came back to get his dog.... She barks all the time and get into my trash, hubby hates her, so it's better for her this way.

My schnauzer would love to taste my chickens too, he is such a wonderful dog, knows tricks, understands every word I say, but he is a schnauzer.... Eat the tiny moving thing, bug, mouse, spider, chick. He cant help it he is a schnauzer, he tries so hard to be a good human, but his doggy side takes over sometimes. He hasnt killed any of my chickens, but I know he would if he ever could.

He is super cute!!!! This stupid dog tries to eat the cat who is twice her size.... And the hubby and son said that the hound/terrier has been in looking for her babies and moping around... Now that would have been ugly if she had caught the other one killing her babies. Guess we are gonna have to replace them pretty soon, my house is pretty somber without them.

Try a breed specific rescue, pounds are generally just a really long way to get them put down

I rehomed two of my doggies, they were havanese and living outdoors.. Actually drove to Heflin today to rehome the second one. The first one stayed at a foster and has found a forever family now through them. It's a little extra work, but it makes me sleep better at night knowing they're not on death row.

Dogs will be dogs, but if you're not happy with them, it's ok to find a better solution!
