ALABAMA!!

Well at least I hear some chirping. Does that mean I'm not a mass murderer?
Told you. Just don't get too anxious. Try not to open it. Let mother nature do her work.

I think I did pretty good! My blue pullet won BV best of variety and my partridge roo did as well! I met many people and it was pretty exciting! troy1, there wasn't many chickens for sale but there may have been some old English. I know I saw Dutch! I was very pleased!

congrats. And thank you, I may ride up there today and look around.

Hi and welcome to BYC and the ALABAMA!! thread.  Wea re glad you joined us and will help anyway we can. well this morning I awoke to find 5, hopefully there is more to come. How long can I leave them in there before I need to put them in a brooder. Also what about feeding them, they are still in incubator?

Smilin - I think if they were mine, I would take them out of the carton or turner and lay them on their sides.  They can roll around and position themselves if they have room.  Candling is a good idea, do some quick research to get an idea how they should look before you try it.  I really think you may still get some chicks.  Don't fret, mistakes happen, you meant no harm and even if it has a harmful effect this time, you have learned and will not do it again.  I lost 40 fully formed chicks on a batch this year.  Don't beat yourself up.

so this morning I awoke to find 5 so far. They are not dry and fluffy yet. There are more eggs still not hatched. HOw do I feed the ones already hatched?

Ty you for the answers. Can someone tell me when I should move them to the brooder box? After a day or so?
