ALABAMA!!

Just getting home from chicken and egg festavil it has been a great day with the family. We bought a splash marans roo and 3 hens, a dozen marans hatching eggs and a dozen buckeye eggs now the incubator is full again.

It was nice to meet you and your family. I came home with one lone Ameracauna hen, but I'm thrilled to have her. I was really hoping to get some Marans pullets.

Medicaid is great for the little kiddos, Cedar was delivered on Medicaid in Tennessee (which had a lot more coverage for the moms) and now that's what pays for the majority of his pediatric care.

I've got one drying right now, it's got drool in it

He's been a bit cranky about them today. He's got a check up soon with his pediatrician, will let her look. His ears seemed a bit drainy.

Between a deadbeat momma not paying for her son, and said son being in counseling and going to the doctor several times a year for a variety of issues and my son needing hearing aids, tubes and possible speech therapy and all the checkups.. Yeah, I agree. I had BCBS until October last year, that would have killed us in copays. Isn't it just crazy that you end up paying more when you're insured than when you have government assistance? That's just nutty... We really didn't have much income at the time, heck, we were eating leftover I brought home from work most the time. Paid a good $800 out of pocked for OBGYN copays and delivery copays, another $400 for er.. elective boy surgery (wanted no issues between two brothers comparing junk in the tub). $35 per well-visit in copay...

It's a sad state of affairs, for sure.

I'm just glad I do not work anymore, all these visits to the doctor would have been impossible with me working 50-60 hours. I kinda miss working, but with the economy, noone wants to take on a mom who needs a specific schedule.. not when they can get anyone they want.

C'est la vie. We make the best of it! Got my garden, my chickies and my artwork. All is well

Right! :) it's allowed me to stay home. Cedar is EBF, so we don't spend more than an hour maybe two apart ever. I am incredibly fortunate to have a huge, happy, healthy 9 month old, nice garden, good chickies, and other 4 legged critters. I certainly couldn't afford the co pays. We were in Knoxville when I gave birth. we paid a total of 200 to Yeh birth center. Which they reimbursed us after our Medicare payments cleared. They also gave me all my prescriptions for free. Including my maintenance thyroid meds, all my nausea meds etc. It.was great...

Hi all! I was just wondering if anyone near Talladega County raises mealworms. I would like to start raising some and would like to try to find someone local to buy from.

On another note...How many mothers do you know who get an incubator for Mother's Day???!!!! HeHe. My hubby just ordered me one. I am so very excited. I have had chickens on and off my whole life and I have a few now but I have never hatched my own. A friend has two dozen eggs in his incubator for me now, and now here I go getting my own incubator. I don't think hubby has any idea how much trouble this is going to cause him. I can't wait!!!
