I haven't been on this thread in a while, but thought I would post what I found this morning.

Also, could be a gopher tortoise.. they're native. Fairly endangered, because they're actually considered game in certain parts of the state.

I just thought I'd share a short funny story. I still have some of my 6 1/2 week old chicks inside (waiting on the fiancé to finish the coop!!) well yesterday I had my nails done with a French tip. Now anytime I put my had in the brooder my austrolorp will try to attack my fingers. It's funny but at the same time annoying! I have to sit the food and water down fast or she will rap her whole beak around my finger. She has now interested my other cochin that this is a fun game. No idea what I'm going to do about holding them until these come off
