Just out of curiosity has anyone here in north Alabama had several tons of sand delivered to use in their coop and/or run? I need about 14 tons but I really don't want to have to take out a second mortgage to pay for it. The sand is dirt cheap, if you'll pardon the pun, but the delivery is outrageous. Unfortunately, I don't own my own dump truck or I'd go get it myself.

Tried looking into renting a dump trailer?

I know the feeling of not being able to get something because you don't have away. All I need is a regular truck. My poor van has had to carry everything from lumber, hay, chickens, and goats. If I could get away with it I would put a mini horse in it so I could get one home. Just like my house, I have had in my house at the same time, a 4 mon old pygmy goat, pregnant potbelly pig, three rabbits, a hurt chicken and rooster. All in my daughter's room where there is no carpet and I built a farrowing pin for jazzy(all can be seen on the forum is my potbelly pig pregnant?) The cutest thing I ever saw was all animals cuddling together at night.

Oh and we are STILL waiting for jasmine to have her babies. UGHHH

Help! My neighbor's chicken has been brooding for over a month. My neighbor is afraid of being pecked so I have to get the chicken off the nest. What do I need to do to get this chicken to stop brooding? I have her off the nest tonight and she won't be able to get to it until tomorrow.

The advice I got to break the broodiness it to put her in a swinging coop. The swinging coop is some type of wire crate that you hang in the air so the bottom of the wire crate doesn't touch the ground. Been told it takes only 3 or 4 days in the swinging coop to break them of their broodiness. However, I never tried it.

Ha! My luck the chicken would decide to projectile poop at just that moment and I can just see explaining to the emergency room doctor exactly HOW a chicken was able to poop in my eye!
