I found one of my Barred Rocks floating in one of my stock watering bathtubs yesterday. I thought she was dead. Picked her up and she was cold, but alive. I dried her off, wrapped her in a towel and placed her in one of the nest boxes overnight. She was up and moving this am, so I guess we're ok. Never had that happen.

Chickens are amazing.. in more than one way. Sometimes they can be amazingly stupid and get themselves in crazy situations. Glad she's ok!

Wisher... you never told me how much fun it would be to REMOVE the ducttape..

Took us an hour peeling that poor thing. But, her wounds look fantastic, all things considering. Her chest is *pink*, with a little coagulated blood on the edges. She's moving around good, getting really frustrated with my mothering and the bruising in her wing is going down.

Don't you wish you were a chicken? Injuries like that would take us YEARS to recover from. She still has a hole in her chest, but she acts like it's no big deal. She's having fun strutting around the kitchen, looking for scraps.

She was a bit in the dumps earlier today, as her friends played target practice with her ducttape. They kept trying to rip it off. Poor girl.

This has been keeping me busy all day, letting her out for walks. It's been distracting me from my broody, which is a good thing. Silver lining...

They are probably going to peck her wound when you put her back in. They will peck at anything, even freckles. Chickens can appear to be the dumbest animal on earth. I went a few days ago and opened the gate to the runand all but one rushed out as they usually do. One pullet was a little slow and instead of going to the gate she began running back and forth on one side of the run trying to get out. I had to go in and run her to the gate. When she finally saw the gate that she had gone out many times before she took off like a shot

Yes I believe you are right Hagar, But I think she is only letting the chicken out when she is with her for short periods and to lay an egg. I hope she will be ok!
