If it is mid thigh, and not in a joint, there is a good chance of recovery. Align and stabilize the fracture with tightly folded newspaper (fold it like splints/sticks) and vet wrap. Put her in a small cage in the coop where she can see the others. Make sure it is not too tight and is not rubbing her raw. Leave her for about two to three weeks, cutting off and changing only when necessary. I just did this with one and she made a full recovery. I don't know where the break was, I was afraid that it was the hip joint. I did not set or wrap it at all, just kept her in a small dog kennel for three weeks. She is walking well and submits to the rooster. She cannot, however, roost with the others, she sleeps in the nest box.question..I have a Silver Laced Wyndotte hen with a broken leg, broke mid thigh. Otherwise healthy. Suggestions???

I *think* we may share the same store......even if we don't I'm close enough that mine should get chicks around the same time.....like I need more chicks.
