ALABAMA!!

For those of you asking, I have full blooded Black Orpingtons, full blooded Black Copper Marans, mixed EEs, mutts, or any combination of those. Ugh!

Okay, let me explain a bit better. I have a breeding trio of Black Orps. Their chicks are 100% Blk Orp. I also have BCM hens and a BCM roo in my layer flock. There are also some Buff Orps, EE, Production Red, and BSL hens in that flock as well. There is also an EE rooster. I did not segregate the eggs as they hatched. I put some of everything in there, but I hatched alot of the Blk Orps. I can guess at which chicks are the pure ones, but I can't guarantee it. That's why I am selling them for hatchery prices ($2 each.) There are nine that are 7 weeks old, 20 or so that are 5 weeks old, and 12 that are 2 weeks old. The last ones I had hatched were three full Blk Orps and they are only a few days old. They were a small batch from the breeder pen that I put in alone.

I have two more batches in the incubator, and I'm done until the Campines start laying! Whew!

which other chicks do u have? We got the same brahmas. U should see the roos. They have greenish-blue feathers on white. They are cool birds. My wife is hoping tsc has ees, bcms, and some type of white large egg layer.

I have d'uccle, cochin/brahma mixes (unplanned pregnancy), smooth silkies, silkies, showgirls, and hopefully this weekend I will have phoenix chicks and quail. Then I will be starting on pure Brahmas, they just started laying. I have a 1 dark roo,1 light roo and 3 light hens and now 2 buff hens. And on a waiting list for Bredas...can't wait!!!

First time with smooth silkies. She's my favorite chick. Named her Tootsie.

TomTom: its funny, other than my mixed flock of Delwares and some barnmixes chickens, mine are all feather footed.

TSC has carried EE's in years past. Didn't see them last year, but they had them the year before that... we were still in the research phase back then. They don't generally have bcms, but I believe there's some breeders in the area that have those. Large white egg layer would likely be a leghorn, if they have them.

Also, they get different birds every week. So if they dont have what you want one week, check again the next week. They generally have one bin with ducklings and three bins with chicks.

There is one selling marans right now in our area, but the eggs are a meduim brown. Not sure if that is correct for them. Thought they were suppose to be dark.

We did get leghorns last year. And bantam bin goes really fast.

Tomtom you said you were 30 weeks? That's exciting. PLUS having the baby before the heat hits is good. I did four babies and the summer one was the one I was the most uncomfortable with. Thanks for the heads up about the price dropping. How long do chick days last anyway? In my part of PA they were only there a weekend. I guess it's different everywhere.

Groleau6, here the chick days at TSC last for several weeks. It is torture.
