from Shelby county. I'm from Europe, been in Alabama/the US for almost 10 years though.

My brahmas are 14 weeks old today. Cant wait till i have fresh eggs. So tired of store bought eggs. Also tired of paying my neighbor $2 a dz for his rir eggs whenever he has em. They are delicious tho. Hope my brahma eggs are as delicious. Mine free range so hopefully better.

We don't have cable either. We live too far outside city limits and I don't like satellite, so netflix it is.

I cancelled mine, got tired of Charter trying to rip us off

Paid $15 for basic cable (as in, like... 13 channels) in 2006. By 2013 that was $30ish and then they told me they were cancelling basic cable and I would have to get their new 'basic', which was like 100 channels for $50 or $60 or heck, it might have even be more.

I'm like "Uhm, no, I am not going to pay more to keep what I have an add the option to watch commercials". Brought their stupid digital box back to their office the same day.

They're doing the same with my internet. It just keeps getting higher and higher.... But, there's not that many options for affordable internet, so I just suck that one up.

I really dislike being ripped off on a steady basis. *grumble grumble grumble* I like Netflix. Although I must say I go months without watching anything at all... right now we're watching the Walking Dead though, started a week or so ago and we are already watching season 3

I normally don't like those kinds of shows, but the survival aspect of it got me (ooooh that farm and the chickens... good stuff.) I usually waste my time reading articles on chickens, gardening and other homestead-ey stuff.

i LOVE walking dead. if you're on netflix, try "house of cards" and "orange is the new black".

My DH and DD watch walking dead. I love orange is the new black and sons of anarchy. Also love parenthood, makes me cry every darn time.

Tomtommom, would century link be a cheaper option for internet for you? That's what we use for internet and home phone.

Hi

I'm in Haleyville. Moved here 6 months ago from New Jersey. We have 6 children, 8 chickens (2 Dominique's, 1 Rhode Island Red, 1 buff Orpington, and 4 gold laced wyandotties) and a rooster (Dominique):barnie, plus 4 goats, and 3 dogs.
Welcome to Alabama and BYC!! I'm new to this site as well, and the guys on this thread just rock! They're quite friendly and helpful! And Roll Tide, I might add :) Haleyville is a great place! I'm just starting with chickens myself, getting chicks in a couple of weeks! I'm really excited

We're sorry; the address you entered is not recognized in the CenturyLink service area.

Apparantly not

We can get AT&T or Charter. We don't have home phone service, so AT&T is pointless. And then there's sattelite and I don't even want to go there. $42.99 for internet is not horrible, it was $36.99 last month, but they decided they wanted extra money every month for the leased modem we've had for 3 years (wait a minute.... 3 years, $7 a month, now $9..... that's ONE pricey modem!). Ofcourse, they say you can't provide your own modem

It's a sick game, I tell ya. If I could kick the habit, I would ditch my internet too... but really, it's my only form of communication

I'd get so lonely!

I don't have cable either but I can find everything I want to watch on the internet.

Yup, how DID we live before internet?
