ALABAMA!!

I posted this in another forum but never got an answer so I am asking yall since it seems this forum seems to have plenty of activity. I am curious what scraps are alright to feed chickens. I have some corn, lettuce, and tortillas. Am I right in thinking these are all alright to feed my flock?

Kitchen scraps are a wonderful way to supplement your flock's diet. At only a few days old, we even give little tidbits of clean fresh grass or romaine lettuce, and human grade oatmeal ground up is wonderful for baby chicks.

Chickens can eat just about anything. The way I look at it, even the salty/greasy stuff by the time you split it between all your birds, it's like one or two small bites per chicken. Not enough to worry about, really.

Mine have had bits of burrito, cooked rice, french fries (like... 4 fries or something

), waffles, french toast sticks etc. etc. Heck, they've had an order of Little Caesar's chicken wings, that had been in the fridge too long. They don't get rich stuff like that often, and usually the amounts are very small. They used to be the garbage disposal in homes decades ago, just like dogs.

Fruit and veg peels are good stuff too. If I have potato peels, I zap them on a plate in the microwave, to cook them.. I don't like the idea of uncooked potato peel, even though only raw green peels are harmful. Just a precaution.. since the amount of peels is usually far larger than leftover table scraps.
