I'm so happy right now! The young ducks might be gone soon and we're going to start building new pens tomorrow for the chickens and quail. I have huge crate from mom's work that's going to turn into my Dom pen/coop.

Hello my fellow Alabama chicken friends,
(Looking for some BBS Orphington eggs, chicks or even an Extra Roo you need to get rid of)

I will be driving down to Birmingham on Thursday the 14th for a Dr appointment at the VA. I will be driving down 157 through Moulton to Cullman then on 65 south to Birmingham and back the same way. I am hoping that someone has some BBS Orphingtons around that route and would Love to meet up with someone to possibly get about 6 BBS EGGS if you have any. Those are my Favorite and I only have 1 Blue hen left so I'm looking to get some more in my flock if anyone has some I can hatch out that would be Awesome.

Does anyone have any that lives close to that route and we could meet up?????

I have an extra black Orpington roo if you need one! We're going to eat all of our extras so I hoped I might be able to sell a few also to offset the feed cost. They will be 22 weeks old this Thursday. I've been reading about them and blue orps and you can bed black to blue and get half chicks that are black and the other half are blue! I have one blue baby girl that I hope to breed next spring. I could meet you in Birmingham.

Butchered the partridge rock... her entire body cavity was filled with fat. I saw no signs of laying and I think she stopped weeks, if not months ago. 1 1/2 years old.. SMH. My feed bill should go down with her gone. I was going to keep the other partridge rock, but I feel she has the same issue. They've both been sitting around, no wonder, the heat is surely getting to them, being THAT fat.

I am still going to sell a few barred rock and jersey giant/australorp pullets, I simply have too many. But I feel good having this hog gone.

Isn't 1 1/2 a little too early for them to stop laying?
Also kind of jealous that you have FAT chickens. I'm always trying to fatten them up but they are still pretty skinny

Fat in the body cavity will cause birds to stop laying. It's unhealthy for them. I seriously pulled a wad of fat out the size of a chicken breast half. I was confused for a minute, thinking I had made a wrong cut and was pulling out flesh. Nope, pure fat. She had no developing eggs inside of her at all, which is unusual for a bird that age.

She's been huge for a long time though. I used to call her my turkey.... Now I wish I had dispatched her sooner.

Yes, I would love to meet up with you somewhere in Birmingham to pick up that Black Roo. My appointment is at 3:30 at the VA Hospital so I should be done there by 4:00-4:30 if I don't have to wait too long to be seen. I'm getting my Big Toe nail cut off again for the 4th time in about 4 years. This thing keeps growing back Ingrown and I am so tired of dealing with the pain involved with it so I want them to put that ACID on it after they take it off this time so it will NEVER grow back again.

I am not familiar with Birmingham except how to get to the VA Hospital so you will need to tell me where we can meet up. I will send you a PM with my phone number and you can give me yours and I can call you when i'm done so we can meet.

I have a Wyandotte rooster, 8 red(ideal sent unsure of exact breed) roos, a broad breasted bronze(good for thanksgiving) I could get rid of. I'm in mobile county.
