ALABAMA!!

kids are funny. my kids BEG ME to eat the chickens. they want to watch them get butchered too. i shot a rabbit in the garden once and my oldest (6 at the time) DEMANDED i clean it and we eat it. she wanted to see the heart, lungs, liver, etc as i cleaned it out. i gave her the heart to play with and she thought that was so awesome. i salt cured the pelt and they played with it for weeks until the wife threw it out for leaving hair all over the house

I believe they learn valuable lessons. How many kids think milk and meat come from a factory?

My son is totally ok with the process now, although his dad doesn't want him seeing the butchering process just yet.. he's a pretty sensitive kid. He ate some of the bird and thought it was good. He does have a ton of questions (about everything LOL).

I plan on getting some meaties in the future I think.

That's a little far. I am about 30min from Tenn. We only have a all flock. So I guess I am being picky. I would love.to have some Ancona or Swedish. Wouldn't mind a mscovy that would.go broody for us. We.keep our ducks for.eggs.and as.pets.so the more eggs they produce.the better

have u checked the tenessee thread? Or thought buying hatching eggs and an incubator? Tractor supply has incubators for less than $50.

Ive never tasted a duck or a duck egg? How do they taste?

To me Duck eggs reminds me of quail eggs. That's if you ever ate quail eggs before. It taste like chicken eggs but flavor is stronger.
Duck meat are all dark meat. Tougher that chicken meat. Skin has a layer of fat. However, it hold flavor very well but some people say it tends to have a wild taste. I think it's how it's prepared

Yardsale on Pineview road in Montevallo tomorrow (Saturday) starting at 8. I will have baby/toddler boy clothes, shoes, toddler bed (no mattress), toys, baby items (tub, organizer, carrier etc.) CDs, DVDs and whatever else I find between now and then.

Cheering the step-son up. His mom cancelled visitation due to a health issue and I just know he'll be upset. He's been wanting to do a yard sale, so it's a good time for it.. not too hot either.

The eggs arevery much like chicken eggs just a stringer egg flavor. If you feed them like chickens not much difference. However if you feed them fish the eggs have a funny taste. This is only my experience though
