ALABAMA!!

I'm three days behind on my reading and catching up on BYC, but I just had to share this! This is what I came home to after my three day vacation, MY FIRST EVER FIVE EGGS! Of course they wait till I'm home to start laying! I'm such a proud chicken mama!

They're next to a white store bought egg for color comparison, yay!

Very nice! Are those from the hens you got from me? I especially like the one at 10 o'clock.

They are! I love that one too! It's funny, there's two laying and I can definitely tell a slight difference in cookout and definitely a difference in size! Are yours from that hatch laying now? Those two hens are the sweetest things. They follow me around the coop. Now I just gotta get some golf balls to encourage them to lay IN the nest boxes instead of UNDER! ;-) I'M SO THRILLED! I was eagerly anticipating the first egg and was just beside myself to look and see FIVE!

Anyone else having allot of Hummingbirds around. I went from 5 a day to well over 20. Thinking migration has started early this year. Could be a sign of things to come?

I saved one in my coop the other day. Poor thing was trying to get out, and once I walked in it tried to escape through the half inch wire.. it almost killed itself. The head fit through, body didn't, so it was trying to fly away with it's head stuck

it wove it's beak through the wire. But, I got it out, took a bit of work, but after catching it's breath it was on it's way (hope it didn't die of shock later... )

Haven't seen any others yet.. I planted scarlet runner beans for them too and I have a feeder out.
