ALABAMA!!

Anyone else having trouble with all the muck? My run STINKS

Nothing but chicken poop mixed with mud. They're ankle deep in it. Even their heads are covered in muck. I've been tossing hay on it, and while it makes the muck better, the smell gets worse (mmmm rotting hay)

I can't wait for things to dry out a bit.

In other news, the little chickens are starting to grow into their big chicken feathers and looking lovely.

Well, SJ got me out running around today and I now realize just how badly the 'flower' beds need weeding. The chickweed is taking over. I actually ended up doing a little bit of weeding in one of the flower pots. The chickweed was trying to choke my radishes and keeping my carrots from sprouting. The Alaska early peas made it clear that we need to give the garden a break this year. Mom was talking about building a chicken tractor for my girls to clean up the weeds and fertilize the garden. So, I have that to do. Saturday the ducklings should hatch.

Dad found out how many chicks I ordered and he's not mad at me. People keep calling about eggs and I don't have enough to sell, so he has decided that it was actually a good idea. He even told me I should have ordered a Dom roo while I was at it... I'm a mile ahead of him. I actually did order one. His concern is who's buying chick starter. Again, I'm way ahead of him. I already know that there are going to be at least a few chicks I don't want in the assortments I ordered and my feed store does trades with us. Any chickens we have that he might want in exchange for feed.

It's been a good, but tiring day.

Our girls moved out to the coop last weekend. We've realized that we need to hurry up and landscape so we have a dry path (or at least a not so muddy path) to the coop. Here's one of our EEs. Eight weeks this coming Monday.

As it starts sleeting out, I hear my chickens out back making a racket, looking around them watching tiny beads fall and they begin 'screaming' at it lol! Even THEY are sick of this weather!
