wow! The group been busy this weekend.

First Welcome

new members! Glad to have to here.


Very jealous of everyone hatching eggs!!!! Or getting chicks. Beginning to want some chicks again. I think one day I'm going to break down and beg Kimberly for some Orp and Dorking eggs to hatch. Still want English Orp badly.

However, still having predator issue. Caught a hawk drying to kill one of my silkie on Friday. OH MAN, didn't realize we have some HUGE hawks in AL. Silkie had some bad scratches on her head but otherwise alright. Kept her in the garage for the weekend but put her back with the flock this morning. I thought of just locking them up in their pen and have done with but they really like to roam in the backyard. Guess it's the price to pay for letting them roam freely.

Well the only good news is the hawk probably scared the eggs out of the other silkies because the other 2 are finally laying. They are smaller the the cochin's egg and very cute.

What types of Marans do u have? I will be looking for cuckoo, wheaten, and blue hatching eggs in May

Congrats on your Silkie eggs. I just got one today from that group of Silkies n my wife got one yesterday from them.

I'm going to try and post some pics of some of their parents sometime to see if some of you Silkie Experts can tell my what some of these colors are that I have on some of them. I don't know if they are called Paint or Partridge or something totally different that I have somehow created.
