ALABAMA!!

Silkie Owners help! Does anyone clip the feathers around their silkies eyes? My poor girl really looks and acts like she can't see at all. I cant see her eyes at all through the fluff so I doubt she can see.

It's easy to give them a "haircut". I've never had to do my silkies, but I trim my Polish's crest and she's calm about it. The smaller the scissors you use, the better. You can try wrapping her in a towel to prevent flapping, but I've never had to do that. Just be careful not to cut any pin feathers, or poke her in the eye. :)

Yes you sure can. I have done it to a couple of mine. it will help if a predator comes after her. I also have trimed feathers on feet in the winter. So it doesnt mat.

We (me and DH) are in Southern Alabama. Pike County. South of Montgomery about 40 minutes. We have Lavender Orpingtons, Lavender Ameraucanas, BBS Ameraucanas, Easter Eggers, Dominique's, Black Copper Marans, true white Araucanas (rumpless, some tufted), Bantam Cochins (frizzle and smooth), Mille Fleur D'Uccles, Silver Sebrights, Silkies, Sizzles and other random breeds. We also have Narraganset Turkeys. We will be selling hatching eggs and chicks of all those breeds in late winter and early spring throughout next year. Right now everything is "barn yard mix" as we are letting everyone free range for a bit.

We are interested in buying: Lavender Ameraucanas (chicks, eggs, pullets), Lavender Orpingtons (chicks, eggs, pullets), Mille Fleur D'Uccles, Frizzle Cochin hens/pullets, Easter Egger and true Ameraucana pullets (pref black pullets), and duck hatching eggs. I'd prefer Black Cayuga, Lavender Muscovy, or White Pekin eggs (or some of all three). If anyone has any of those things that are healthy, disease free, and of reasonable price.

We are crazy chicken folk, lol. And we also have dogs and cats. We enjoy life with our animals.

Hey all! I have four drakes that I would like to sell. Since I am in North AL, do I post that here or in a different forum? I thought perhaps the buying and selling forum but these can't really be shipped (well, I suppose they can, but they are pretty big). Thanks!
