My local Tractor Supply store gets there chicks from Hoover's Hatchery. I hate to say anything negative because it has only been my experience, but I have not had good results with their chicks. They seem to be extra susceptible to coccidiosis even with prevention and treatment. And a few of the ones that did make it to adulthood died of a mysterious lingering illness. I even had a necropsy done on one with non specific results. I felt like they came from week stock.Has anyone every purchased chickens from Hoover Hatchery?
WeI live in Alabama way down in the middle of it.

Have you already received your chicks? Mine are supposed to ship around the 21st. I ordered 5 ISA Browns and 10 amaracanas.A coworker and I placed an order for chicks from Hoover's Hatchery this year. I haven't used them before, so I'm interested to see how it goes.

I will. Not yet. I think ours are scheduled to ship around the first week of March; I need to double check the date. I ordered a RIR, a SS (male), and 4 Easter Eggers. I don't know what my coworker ordered.
Be sure to take pictures when yours come in! I'm eager to see what the EEs look like.
I was given 15 chicks that was a month old and out of the 15 one had Mareck's and I think I may have another one that has it.My Hoover’s chicks are scheduled to ship the last week in March.
FINALLY got the necropsy report on my OE pullet who died last month. Apparently it was Mareck’s Disease! I did not expect that. I haven’t had any other sick chickens in the 18 months I’ve had birds, knock on wood, so I guess there’s nothing really to do at this point...
