ALABAMA!!

Hey everyone! Just a reminder that The Alabama Bantam Club will be hosting a Young Bird Show. (only Bantams hatched this year) The location will be in Clanton, AL. at the Fair Grounds with the judging beginning at 9:00. Everyone is invited to come join the fun! Free admission. Some of the best breeders in the State (even joining States) will be exhibiting their Spring hatchlings. Also, there will be plenty of sale cages so you should be able to find that perfect addition to your flocks.

Will there be ducks?

Cappie, for you I will double check to see if the guy from Florida is coming up with any Call Ducks for sale. I know some of the guys from that area are planning to attend. Watch for a message on facebook later this afternoon. Meanwhile, the October Show will have so many more exhibitors from throught the Southeast, I feel sure that it will not be an issue to find something then.

Call Ducks are soooooo stinking adorable. I even bought a huge pen with the thoughts of using it for a nice breeding pair and it still sits empty. But, my dang backyard looks like a zoo anyway, I just can't commit to another project. Or, maybe the right pair has never came around. I really like Charley Hodom's whites. Some of those.....and the pen will be occupied.

I'll let you know what I find out later today.

I work with Duck Rescue Network and we have an urgent SOS for some ducks stuck in a pen in Remlap, AL. It's a long story which you can read here: http://www.duckrescuenetwork.org/DRNBoard/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=10704&p=12761#p12761
but
the issue is the lady is stuck in Ohio with her seriously ill mother and her husband's car broke down on his way home so he can't get back to AL. They have 2 pet ducks who are penned and needing food and water 'til the couple can find a way home. Is there anyone in the general area who would be willing to go check on them and feed and water them - or better yet, foster them at your own place until the couple can get back home? Please email me if you are willing to help. It's already been 3 days so it's pretty urgent if these guys are going to live. Thank you for any help you can provide. I am willing to help with gas money too. Email me at [email protected]. Thank you.

I'm sad to say that the lady who was going to go help the ducks was unable to do so. So it has now been 5 days and we are losing hope. If anyone could help check on them and get them some food and water, we'd be so grateful. If anyone is willing to foster or even adopt them, that would be fantastic. Please, anyone near Springville, AL, let me know if you are able to help. Kimberly's cell phone is now on the blink so if you've called her on that, she isn't able to get the message. She has provided these numbers we can use:

"my mother's house where I'm staying.... (614)873-7410
or my daughter's cell (614)832-7323"

We are desperate and sad and would be so grateful if anyone can help. Thank you.

Great new news. We found someone local in Remlap to go check the ducks and provide feed and all is now well. Many many special thanks too to Kasey from BYC who offered to help although it was a long drive from her. I appreciate that so much. So all is good now and thank you, Alabamans! (Sorry if that's not the right term.)
