i would love to get some of hink's buff and white orpington's one day to add to mine. They look like really nice birds.
Lisa
I hadn't planned on getting any whites but when i saw them in the yard they were really nice so i said give me some of those too. Her buff roos are very big. She did tell me she breeds not just for appearance but to bring back the dual quality of the breed.
She does sell hatching eggs if your interested enough to order.
Yes I saw on their site that they sell hatching eggs. I'll have to wait for a while before I get anymore chickens though, I think within the month of April I will have close to 150 chicks arriving, so I've got to get busy making more pens.
I've got 3 chicks hatched so far since yesterday. I'm sitting in front of the incubator like watching a movie. They sure do take their time , don't they?

I've heard mixed reviews on that auction. I went to the auction in Opp this past weekend. WOW!!!
I've been...wasnt too pleased.
Bought a Barred Rock Hen (I'm SURE it was hen when I bid )....guy stuffed "her" in our carrier really quick after the auction...got home and "she" was a Roo. Little Roo promptly was returned for my money back.
The guys wasnt real friendly either, treated me and my husband like WE were the idiots. First tried to convince me it was INDEED a hen, and then when we took him out he said "Well you see these feathers here, that is definitely a cockeral..."
WELL DUH, had I been able to SEE him before you stuffed him in the box I'd have KNOWN it was a Roo.
I wont be returning unless I need to unload chickens later. I will never buy another chicken at an auction. Chicks from a broody hen is the only way we'll increase our flock.
Kowgurl - They sure do take their time. I've been watching them hatch all week. Tuesday was lockdown and they've been hatching, more everyday. 19 from 23. I've still got two with pips but I couldn't leave the others cuz they needed to eat and drink.
alabamachick - I don't buy at auctions cuz you just never know what your gonna get. If you can handle cooties and whatever fine but me I run a closed flock. I don't buy eggs from people that I don't know or who won't let me see their set up. I got some BR eggs only once at an auction and they were really dirty. Two so bad I had to toss them. Some folks have no scruples and will say anything. Buy hatching eggs and you might get something from a sci-fi movie. You know what I mean? Silkies!
You do know about silkies don't you? That they are not real chickens? They are aliens sent here to suck our brains out and take over the planet. My neighbor lady got silkies once and they took her away. I got a pic to prove it. See how her hair is kinda like a silky's ? She went completely mad. So I wont get any. If you go near them make sure you wear a tin foil hat so they can't read your mind. Ok?
