Sometimes I think it is harder on the loved ones that are far away and can't get information . Just sitting waiting on the national news to let you know what is going on.
At least being here in the middle of it, you had something to do. Get up, Get out and help. Takes your mind off hurting for a little while.

I'm from Gallion, close to Demopolis, AL. ....Where do you buy your chicks? I buy some at my local Farmers Co-op but they can't get the breeds I want. What breeder or hatchery have you had a good experience with?

I have bought from McMurry, Mt Healthy, My Pet Chicken and IDeal. I liked all of them except MPC. They lost my order.

This time, I ordered from Ideal .I just got my chicks from them. I bought 12 and they sent 15. All arrived ok through the mail. I liked using them because I can pick different breeds and I didn't have to order a lot. as long as the order adds up to $25.00(that is not 25 birds just dollars) they will ship. Shipping with them is not bad. I put the web address below for Ideal.

Post what you are looking for on this thread. There is often someone within driving distance to you with that breed available. You would probably have to accept straight run. IMHO being able to select just pullets is the only reason I would purchase from a hatchery.

hi, everyone! does anybody have any eggs due to hatch in the next day or so near Auburn? my broody hen's eggs don't seem to be hatching and I'd love to get some day-old babies to put under her. she's a terrific mama! i don't know what happened this time- she usually hatches out 100%.

This is Day 25, though, so I know those babies aren't going to hatch! i just need about 3 to satisfy her.

Stormy, I am so sorry about your losses!!! I pray for you to be aware of God's comfort.

I was visiting my sister in SC. We were able to get into contact with each of our family members, outside Madison and in Tuscaloosa, and in Auburn, even when they couldn't get in touch with each other.

That website is great. I've been following them on Facebook, and following Toomers for Tuscaloosa, which is also excellent. This crisis has brought out the best in a lot of people.

Live in Troy, work in Montgomery, and visit Auburn and Greenville once a week. We have Khaki Campbells, Partridge Rocks, Buff and Blue Orpingtons, Golden Red Comets, and Various Hybrid Turkey breeds. If you are looking for chicks, eggs, etc just let us know..Might be willing to swap if there is another breed we like. All our birds come from NPIP breeders and only tested birds enter our farm. We can also ship eggs if you like.... Have a great day!
