ALABAMA!!

I put up a couple months ago a hoop coop - plywood on one end that is part of a fence line (wired to post/fence). Tent stakes, wire and 16' cattle panels, a large piece of plastic and a tarp. Positioned tarp so it's almost to ground on the south side - bottom squares are open to let birds come/go in yard. Other side I used poultry netting to prevent them getting through. Very basic - some perches, feeders...still working on nest boxes to make that easier but it's worked well so far. Took about 3 hours tops, most of it me and a 12 year old, about an hour my other half helped (wiring panels together).

http://slowmoneyfarm.wordpress.com/2011/04/02/hoop-chicken-shelters-growing-pullets/ shows some of it - what we'll adapt - the 'open' side was left that way for ventilation - but we found in rainy days it lets too much in...so will arrange a drop down tarp to be dropped in bad weather and raised up when nice outside. We use shredded bark in it for scratching material (free from tree trimming trucks).

Interested & sold...need another one but finances are tight and that will work well. Can I meet you in Jasper this weekend to get it?

Sure. When and where?

I have a pair of ducks for sale if anyone would be interested. They are right at a year old and the male is a Pekin and the female is a Magpie I do believe.

Haven't been on in a while, but wanted to ask here since I believe Allbaboutdemchicks mentioned they might be down there. I have been trying to find information about Bantam Brown Leghorns. I have a pair of "rosecombs" but can't find anyone else who has these. I got them at the ALBC conference last year in the silent auction.

I may have some chicks in a week or so but would like more information. It seems I may have to work up from these two. Not something I prefer to do. I don't particularly like them but I'd hate to see them disappear altogether.
