ALABAMA!!

Hi Alabama! My husband and I will be moving up there June 3rd. Unfortunately, we have had no luck finding a rental house in the Huntsville area.

Anyone know of any rentals that will allow 5 small dogs near Huntsville?

I have given up hope and I am selling off the chickens and ducks.

As of now, it looks like we will be hotel bound.
Here's a couple numbers to try for two and three bedroom mobile homes for rent in Hartselle, about 15 miles south of Huntsville off I-65

Good Luck!

Check out local classifieds and call yourself. Explain the situation but understand that people with property don't like animals in their homes because they are often not taken care of and there is a large expense in cleaning and pest control for months after the animal lovers depart. I have rental property and I KNOW the problems. With that said, I have renters now that have inside dogs and outside dogs and I watch them like a hawk, so far so good. They pay rent on time and are keeping the place up very nicely, so far. They have to pay more than I was asking ($100 a month) and I am saving the extra money from rent to replace all the carpet when they move. Once the savings reaches the amount new carpet will cost, I will either lower or not increase their rent, depending on how long it takes. If you want to rent to people without pets, after people with pets are there, you have to replace the carpets. Even if the pets are clean and housebroken. That's just how it is...

You may also have to take a place that you are not in love with so that you can search for something better when you get there. The other thing is you could find a BYCer to board your flock till you get settled and can take them. If I were in that area, I would!

Thanks Bama Biddy and hearts34 for the suggestions.

I can completely understand the concerns of the landlord. Luckily most of the properties we have looked at online have wood/tile flooring.
We have been hesitant to go through the local papers since we aren't there to go look at a house ourselves. We may end up staying in a hotel for a week so that we can go look at owner rentals not just realtor rentals.

I wouldn't feel comfortable asking someone to board them for fear that I would not be able to find a home where we could have them.

Thanks again.

Hey everybody - I need to get a SLW roo to a fellow BYCer in Washington County. I am in Tuscaloosa County. Does anyone know of someone who travels between the two counties and wouldn't mind a boxed roo along for the ride? I am giving him to her and we are hoping not to have to spend any money. I will be happy to share fresh eggs, though! Please ask around and see if you can help us. Thanks!

WHAT is a SLW? I keep seeing the SWLD and no idea what it stands for.
SLW is a Silver laced wyndotte( not sure on the exact spelling)

I will as will supply fresh eggs as well. getting an average of 5-6 day. with only 6 hens which is pretty good. thanks

LOL! I can cover the eggs, I am getting about a dozen a day!

Hey gang, ask around for us and lets find a ride for this roo, Akashia needs him and he needs to get away from the other roos that are beating the pulp out of him!

It is only about 3 hours and I will put him in a secure box with fresh cucumber to keep him hydrated and he should require no additional care. Help us out here, I'd do it for y'all!
