ALABAMA!!

Hi Y'all. I live in Opelika/Auburn and am looking for 3-4 young chicks to help some poults learn to eat and drink quicker. The poults are due to hatch this Friday which means I'd need the chicks by this Friday or sooner. I'm not set on any particular breed but I do not want bantams. Probably the oldest the chicks could be is a week old. If anyone has some chicks or knows someone that may have some, please let me know. I would need the chicks to be no further than a two hour drive from Auburn/Opelika and a lot closer would be a big plus. I know, I've waited to the last minute but anything that anyone can do to help me will be greatly appreciated. We have no feed stores selling chicks now, and I've been checking CL and other local classifieds for two days now. I have emailed a couple of people but haven't heard back from them yet.

Thanks!

Stricktly out of curiosity, why are you so certain that you don't want bantams?

For a few reasons. First, these young chicks I am looking for will be raised with turkeys until the turkeys are about 6 weeks and I don't want the turkeys to squash them, second, all my other chickens are large fowl, and third, I don't like the small eggs.

Congrats on your hatch. Hope the others hatch well. This is my 1st broody but 2nd x this year. Her first none were viable so after 25 days i removed her from the broody pen.She sat for 10 days,i candle her eggs they were no good.So i put 3mallard eggs under her.I guess she is to old for her eggs to be any good.I want to get me a cochin for a broody or two. Yes they are so addictive!! I started out with chickens then ducks i think i may want a couple of geese next year.Where does it stop?!! LOL!! I have 6 EE,3BB,1brown leg horn,2 GLW, 7 BA,5D'Uccle millie flure. 5 pekin ducks and 6 mallards, and still want more.Everyone thinks im crazy cause i went chicken crazy.I tell them you will never know till you try it.
