"interesting....." was all eragon said, he was pondering several things and his mind was elsewhere. "no one has the right to laugh at you little one" eSaphira said speaking for eragon who was staring out a window.

Demeter bared her teeth, revealing wolf-like fangs. "Most of them only laugh once, eSaphira."

eragon looked at the door, pulled out of his thoughtful trance "enter" he said, hoping demeter wouldn't mind.

Feanor walked in. "Master Eragon. I have a bad feeling. Is eveything okay?" The elf prince looked worried.

Demeter sat on the edge of Eragon's desk, watching Eragon and Feanor.

eragon sighed and shook his head "everything is not fine i'm afraid, a new shade has apeared and tried attacking queen aryaD and firnen in elesmera today" he said.
arya's eyes got wide "what?! how is that possible?!" arya exclaimed, she was good friends with queen aryaD because queen aryaD had been her teacher for some time until she left for eragon's island.

"Are they okay? I must fly home now." Feanor said.

Demeter frowned, listening to the others.

A miniature dragon made out of what appeared to be leather flew into the room, dropping a letter on the desk. On the front of the letter was the seal of a well-known shipbuilder who did business with Eragon.

eragon looked at the letter but dismissed it for the time being "everyone is fine and I have sent four riders on their way to elesmera but they shouldnt' be there until three days from now" eragon said

***Two weeks ago***
"I don't see why I have to take the ship to Eragon," Carlos said to his father.
"You will take the ship because I told you to take the ship. And maybe you can learn something while you are there!" his father, Richard, replied.
"Come on dad, this guy is an old man now! He probably can't remember anything for more than five seconds. I'm not going!"
"You are going. This is a great honor, son, and not one that you should so lightly toss away! If you argue with me anymore, I shall disinherit you in front of the entire city! Besides, I have heard that Demeter is there, so you won't be entirely alone."
"Well, if Demeter is there, then maybe I will go," Carlos said slowly.
"Good," Richard said. "The ship is ready. One of the servants is packing your things, and if all goes well, you will be on your way by six in the evening." I'll have to send a letter to Eragon and Demeter, Richard thought. I owe them both an apology, sending Carlos there to sell the ship. But if he learns some manners there, no one will be sorry he went.
***Now***
Carlos stood on the deck of the Dragon's Flame, watching Eragon's island approach. They would be there in five minutes, provided no headwind appeared.
