Angravel chuckled deep in her throat, and glanced at Demeter. "I think that we have a pair of lovebirds with us."
"I agree. Maybe you'll find a mate when we get to Eragon."

Angravel snorted in amusement, but Demeter could feel her longing through their link.
"What about you?" Angravel asked. "Do you think you'll find someone?"
Demeter raised her eyebrows in surprise at the question, then shook her head sadly. "No, Angravel. You know I won't. It would take a miracle."
"Sorry. I forgot."
"It's alright."
"No it isn't."
"Yes, it is. Now let's land."
"Ok."

Griffin opened her mind to everyone and said, "Time to land!"

Angravel flared her wings, feeling the strain in her chest muscles as she slowed herself until she was almost stationary, then, beating her wings powerfully, she landed gently on the island.

Demeter unbuckled her legs from the saddle, jumping gracefully to the ground. She stretched her arms and legs, sighing gratefully, then smiled at Angravel and said, "It's not that I don't like flying with you, but being in the saddle all day makes one a little stiff." Angravel huffed a cloud of smoke, and nudged her gently with her nose, then raised her head and examined the island.

Demeter also gave the island an appraising glance. It was about five miles long, three miles wide, and had a copse of trees in the middle.
"I don't think that there's much of anything here, apart from birds," she said. "This place must get some terrible storms. It's amazing that these trees are so upright." She turned and looked at Angravel. "I'm afraid that you're probably going to be having fish instead of a deer tonight."
"I'll survive," thought Angravel. "After all, it's not the end of the world if I don't eat a lot of food. We'll still make it to Eragon."

"Ready to land?" Phoenix asked Renkah.
"I am so ready. Let's go!" Renkah patted Phoenix's shoulder.
"Alright. Hold on, Renkah." Phoenix dove toward the ground, pulling up at the last minute. He landed with a bit of a jolt, making Renkah lean back to avoid hurting herself on his neck spikes.
"Phoenix! Be more careful! I could have lost an eye!"
"Of course you wouldn't have. I wouldn't let that happen to you."
"Even so, Phoenix, you shouldn't do things that can endanger your Rider like that just because you want to show off!"
"Sorry Renkah, I really am. I won't do it again."
"I'm not saying you can't show off for Windstorm, just be a little more careful next time."
Renkah unstrapped her legs from Phoenix's saddle and jumped off his back, then walked over to stand by Demeter, followed by a rather subdued Phoenix.

"Of course, Angravel. You should have said something sooner."
Demeter quickly took her bags off the saddle, setting one of them very carefully on the ground. She piled the others around it, then returned her attention to the saddle. In a few moments, she had it off and placed it on the ground.
"Better?" she asked.
"Much."
