One of my hens has laid her first two eggs, then the third egg was eaten and then for two days nothing. Is this normal?

Yep, the Fair was last Thursday - Sunday, then getting things back into the groove, work-work, yada yada... first chance I've had to get back on BYC for a while.

Here's the Jersey Giant (she's purty):

I keep going back and forth on the Dellie... roo? pullet? roo? pullet? roo?

The coloring is all Roo... but I'm just not seeing the pointy feathers and massive comb that Jonathon had by this point...the barring in the photo makes the feathers LOOK pointy, but they're not.

I'm crying inside today... the one baby out of SoCal Marans eggs that was worth keeping got attacked by the other birds today and I may have to put him down.

He was a good looking boy.

The girl has massive feathering on her feet, and hardly any copper.

Oh Tori, I am so sorry about your baby. You know, chickens can survive the most amazing things. Can you wait a few days or is he just terrible? Can you prop up some boards or something in your pen so there is somewhere to hide from the bullies?

The dellie is darker in the face and wattles than the three I have here. I have two pullets that have really pale combs and the roo has a similar sized comb but not the deeper red color that yours has. I guess time will tell. What did you think about the blues I have? Your lilac Jersey is sure looking nice. I have one just like her and they ARE pretty. Hmmm, any interest in that roo that looks like her...maybe start breeding for that color?
