Alaska Chicken Lover's Soup for the Cold!!

I'd be interested! I was thinking about keeping a few trays going all winter for me and Brian, the rabbits, and the chickens. Wheat grass is so good for you.

I would like to do a test run before I do a big bulk order, though. Where do you get yours?

Also, Donna, did I miss where you get the fish meal? I still want to try that out.

Well, so far my experiment with the Dairy ration that started a week ago is going WONDERFUL!!!! They all seem to love it, their stools are all good, and not to mention
the coats on the bunnies are looking SOOOOOOOOOOOO nice! Did I say the chickens love it too?

I got mine at Alaska Mill and Feed... You can get it by the box or 50 lb bag...

The babies SHOULD be able to survive at 4 weeks without you supplementing them. I've heard of large operations that actually start weaning as early as four weeks, and have the back to back breedings.

I would make sure the babies have PLENTY of oats and hay to nibble on in addition to free choice pellets to encourage eating. Both will help regulate their systems and give them roughage to help adjust to solid foods. Watch their stools very closely to make sure they aren't getting poopy butts.

How is the mom's condition? I know a lot of people put just a LITTLE Calf Manna (Wal-Mart) into the feed to give them an extra calorie boost. I haven't done it, but considering how much weight my one little doe lost with her last litter, I plan on trying it. I think they said about a teaspoon a day. Just a little.

If you want to split a bag, let me know. I have two does due in a few weeks, so I will need it.

Also, we should definitely stay in touch about the co-op. So far, that's...four? people interested? My runs are usually to take things FROM the valley and less about picking stuff up, but every once in a while M&F has something I need that I can't find up here. (Super cheap little plastic crocks for winter watering, for example. And MUCH cheaper 32oz water bottles!)

Is there an exact recipe to follow? Does Dairy ration have GMOs in it? If it has corn from AMF then it would have GMOs.

Actually BB, I have no idea where the ingredients come from but here's the break down.....So what your telling me is that my AMF chicken food is
no good either?
hmm.png
Or for that matter, my chicken scratch? All from AMF....If you feed alfalfa, beet pulp, soy bean meal or any of that you'll come across GMO's,

Heck, I eat at Taco Bell and I'm not dead yet...

I have just added it to my feed. One 50lb bag to a half of the 80lb bag....Blue Moon Dairy, who raised some of the top winning Satins and some
of the largest satins you'll have ever seen but still within standard made up this formula.

It is sold by Alaskan Mill and Feed

Deb... I feed sprouted barley, mixed with other things, to my layer flock regularly. Here a 50# sack is ~$11 and is enough for 4 days. Otherwise, I'd be feeding a 50# sack of layer pellets every day. Cracked corn, beet pulp, Soy meal, BOSS get added. They love it. And if they miss some, it doesn't go bad like the pellets do. Not that they miss any.

Thanks Tori! I'm always looking for good treats, and something green would be nice for the winter time.
