Alaska Chicken Lover's Soup for the Cold!!

I candled the 14 eggs due for lockdown tonight.....so far they all seem to be developing right on schedule......They will move to the Brower (hatcher) later this evening, as I have not gotten the Humidity to stabilize yet, finally got the temp close.....

I have cut out an egg flat for them to hatch in, so there should be less stress and mess to clean up, I also have another hatch that goes into lockdown on the 25th to hatch the 28th .....
so I want to make clean up a breeze, as I won't time between hatches to do much but pull the cartons and replace with the next ones.

Good luck Pandora!

Yesterday I went about my usual daily chores and come mid afternoon went out to check on the meaties to see if they had enough water and the run door was WIDE open!!

My first thoughts as I approached was that I didn't SEE any birds on the outer lawn, and I could SEE about 8 in there from the outside. I thought for SURE the Sexlink roos would be out playing somewhere... so I did a quick headcount and they were ALL still in there.

I haven't a CLUE how long that door was open....

Thank goodness meaties are lazy!!

Okay peeps, I have way too many chicks right now. I swear when I'm depressed I go to the chick store instead of the chocolate store. So I had been brooding some chicks for my sister in-law, and another group for my father in-law and once they were gone, 17 total, I was bummed.
But that does not excuse the purchase of 5 asst. bantams! WTH was I thinking? "Oh gee, they won't take up much space."
No more 3D for me. So if any of you would like these little critters, let me know. One looks like it's a porcelain or pearl bantam. Very light grey/blue color with an almost invisible white barring.
One is a self blue for sure, two are the blue laced red(these are splash) and one is a mystery, but still very pretty. This was from the Old English Assortment pen.
I also have two EEs and a barred rock chick that need to go.
If no one is interested, I'm putting them on CL.

You haven't asked, at least not that I remember.

In the coop are 9 pullets and 4 cockerels.

Girls:
Welsummer
Barred Rock
Norwegian Jaehron
Favorelle (2)
Rhode Island Red
New Hampshire Red
Polish Crested
Appenzeller Spitzhauben

Boys:
Polish Crested
Norwegian Jaehron (2)
White bird...lol

I have 11 meaties that are 8 weeks old and 3 sexlinks the same age, plus 22 meatie (CX) chicks about 7 days old.

Of my little roo flock that are 4 weeks old I have:
Barred Rock
Black Sexlink
Silver Wyandotte
Easter Egger
White Laced Red Cornish (2)
Norwegian Jaehron (3)
Silver Campine

Also in that batch are two Norwegian Jaehron girls.

At three weeks old I have 4 packing peanuts that I haven't decided what they are yet.

The BLRW are pullets, the barred rock and ees are also pullets, the other bantams are straight run. I don't know yet.
the ees, barred rock and st. run bantams are 6/9 hatch date. The BLRW were from his older stock and they're feathered out.
