I know who it is! I was just messing with you! I actually had a Minnie Pearl hat when I was a little girl. I went through a phase where I would wear it EVERYWHERE. My mother found it quite embarrassing! It was better than when I went through the napkin hat phase, though...

OMG I bet that was hilarious!!

Pandora, where are the eggs coming from? I don't let them ship anything live/frozen to me up here except on a Monday if at all possible.

CARTERSVILLE, GA Monday was a Holiday so there was no mail!

PO will call when they arrive and will allow/assist in getting them to me that day!
Hurray!

I can't wait to see them!!

I have 9 F1 Light Brahma x Barred Rock pullets, and am anxious to get their eggs to move to the next step so I can have my own bloodline of Columbian Rocks.
My F1 s are 3 times the size of my Black Sex Links and they are a sight to see!

My BBS Orpington from Speckled hen is almost the same size as my Light Brahma Rooster already, Mystic was hatched in June! He currently has a harem of 30+ Black Sex Links and 13 Light Brahma x Black Sex links to protect......

So I will have a bunch of large birds in the spring!

My New Barred Rocks are growing and I have noticed they are a truer Black than the ones I bought last year, (2 last years 5 BR look brown in comparison). So I am not sure what to do there, other than split the brownish ones to the Layer Flock.......and move on.

I am currently running 2 coops (larger one has 2 pens Light Brahma & Barred Rocks ) so there is the layer coop and the breeder coop, I am working on getting a 3rd one built so that my project birds will have their own place and so maybe the brooder will fit in there, currently the incubators and brooders are in my bathroom, and while I do have a very large bathroom/laundry room, it is very crowded in there.....lol!

But with them in the house I see them more often than if they were in a seperate building, the other down side is the dust/dander is everywhere!

Pandora, what a lousy thing to happen (septic system0 just as winter is starting in. It figures though doesn't it?
It sounds like you have quite a crowd there!
All newbies are doing great here.. They are good distractions to hand wringing!

Well we got the entire inside stovepipe replaced and caulked today. Also had to do some repairs to the dog pen as one of them likes to dig around the edges and is not quitting this time!!

I got 5 eggs yesterday and 4 today from the girls, that's the most I've gotten - was averaginng 2-3 a day

So tomorrow we're going to move my fur machine over here so I can get back to sewing more - gotta get some money coming in somewhere!

Donna, all is well I hope?

I have a few that top 11 pounds, but no one is full grown yet......
Most are only 16 months or less old.

My Rooster has looked like a small Turkey since he was 4 months old. He dwarfs all the hens even the few that are 2yr olds......(given to me instead of stew pot!)

Very cool! That's what I'm looking to accomplish with some selective breeding too... tho I'm doing it a little crazier than most. But it should be fun

You should post pics!

At what age is a chicken considered fully grown?
