Weeding weeding and more weeding... That's why I use 18" tall boxes now, at least I don't have to bend over so far and murder my back! I'd like to know something better. I am told guinea hens love that stuff though - Spruce grouse sure do....

Chili isn't quite as trusting yet.

Honestly, I think she believes I am the lesser of two evils... Sit on me, or be chased and pecked...

I agree completely. We installed three of them incorrectly when we first got them because I hadn't found that page yet. Fixed em once we found it tho.

Hey everyone,

Ashia just called (as usual only when she has something go wrong!)
gig.gif
(kidding with her incase she see's this)....But anyhow, she had a pullet earlier today
laying on its side kicking out like it wanted to get up but couldn't? I told her to give it some time, make sure it had fluids, give it the vitamins and electrolytes but I guess they culled
it.....anyhow she called me back just a bit ago and one of her roosters is doing the same thing, walking around drunk like......She thinks they may have got into something toxic? I asked her if she has added any
new birds and she said no.....I knew that there was a disease that eggs can carry but I didn't know what it was, or the symptoms.....any idea's? What toxic plants do we have up here? Does anyone know?
She asked me to ask you guys since her internet is acting up right now.....

The only poisonous berry plant in Alaska is the deadly baneberry. Do not be fooled, this plant may look enticing with its bright red cluster of berries (it can also have white berries), but eat it and you could die of cardiac arrest. It is found in moist, shady forest, along streams or in open woods in southern parts of Alaska. Luckily its properties make it very bitter, so a child is more likely to spit it out than swallow it.

False hellebore, another extremely poisonous plant, likes moist meadows and forest openings. Though a member of the Lily family, all parts of this broad-leafed plant will make you very ill if eaten. It is easy to confuse it with twisted stalk.

Arrowgrass, death camas, monkshood, water hemlock, devil's club and wild calla are also poisonous.
