Alaska Chicken Lover's Soup for the Cold!!

You passed our road not long after you left WWs Aimie!

I saw your green jeep going into Chickaloon not long after we left WWs. Not sure if it was you driving...

Probably my daughter checking the mail! We were in Anchorage til late yesterday. If you are ever up this way again, please call in. Would love to see you!

My Dad, back in the day, not knowing what a cornish X was, let them go to over 4 months... Several of those monsters weighed 25 lbs on the hoof.. I kid you not! Those rascals free ranged part of the day, 'cause Dad thought they were like cornish games, having no clue - then - what the X's were. Mom said he was over feeding them 'cause none of them we kept for longer ever laid an egg!

I don't know, I guess in my little mind it seems counter productive to keep them that long. You put so much feed
into them for them to keel over. I'd much rather have a smaller bird than to see that money go down the drain. But then again...I squeak when I walk....

LMAO!! Well the one we had keel over we butchered and it's resting now. I don't imagine it's any different than hauling game home over your shoulder for 1/2 a day or more. I talked to a trapper friend and he said it's no different than a moose that wasn't bled out... so there's blood in the meat? Can't hurtcha! So once we eat it, if you never hear from us again.....

ACK! Now your gonna eat it????!!!????!!! There went my grilled cheese sandwich....

You hope it didn't die of some disease.....We'll find you out in the middle of the Glenn flapping your wings and rolling around in the no passing zone!

Heehee!! I think I've eaten worse things in my life besides a chicken found dead for a couple hours, it WAS a heart attack, the heart was blown and there was all kinds of fluid and the skin was purple. All CHF signs...

If it had looked any different than what it did I would have fed it to the dogs. They can eat anything... trust me... they CAN.

Counterproductive is the right word(s) alright. He just didn't have a clue. He was an old farmer's kid long removed, and never heard of such a thing as a bird you could butcher that soon. It was kind of funny actually when he found out that they weren't freaks of nature. (Well, they are but on purpose)

Oh yes, they are freaks, but NICE ones...lol I gotta tell ya, it was REALLY hard to not become attached to these birds because they are SOO friendly - granted, they see us as nothing but a food machine, but they don't run in terror when I reach down and pet them. Heck they don't even fuss much when I pick em up. Shame really... I am comforted that I have given them a better life than a factory
