Alaska Chicken Lover's Soup for the Cold!!

Hes pecking at the food in front of him too. So this is a good sign! He's just sitting down but that's much better than him
flopping over like he was. If he continues to improve I wont have to cull him......

Oh no, I have no idea what sex it is......I'm just saying him, because Tori is always saying "ROO".....so I might as
well be one step ahead of her on this one. If it turns out to be a girl....I didnt jinx myself!

Hey you named him/her!

I would have never thought of a name that clever.......

Here he/she is, balancing with my hand behind....he's still getting stepped on
by the others but I think that's what keeps him going. It makes him get up and move
around.
I havent decided if I want to retape his legs or not...what do you think?

He probably needs the bandaid until he can stand by himself. With mine that lived it took a week. Now that danged thing is the HUGEST roo I have ever seen.

Hey guys, for anyone that's interested in producing birds for someone other than their own family....found out today that Mat Meats, as a federally funded slaughterhouse, technically HAS to process chickens, but it may take cajoling them about it a little because I guess they don't WANT to process poultry. Don't know what kind of minimums they would have, etc, but...well. If the minimums were large anyone interested could co-op.

(They also have to do my rabbits! Woohoo!

I'll keep researching and let you all know what I find out about the potential costs involved. I think industry standard is a couple bucks a bird or so, maybe a little less.

Rabbit meat? Definitely. I hate to tell you all this....but chickens are my second love.
