Hello everyone. My mallard had a yellow duckling and I'm wondering if she is albino? I can't find a lot of information on albino mallards, so I was hoping someone here had some insights. We have a few yellow one with black spots on their heads and black "underfeathers".... not sure what it would be called... but never all yellow. And the other yellow were from a different female. All her clutch mates are the classic yellow and black.

Thanks in advance.

Not albino, it has black eyes. Perhaps a form of leucistic coloration is going on here. It will be interesting to see how it feathers out!

Her eyes are blue. This lighting is awful and I couldn't get a good picture. I'll try again tomorrow during the day. I am also really interested to see what her feathers are going to look like.

Sorry, I'm new at this. I responded to my own post instead of you. She has blue eyes. I'll take a better picture tomorrow.

I agree with @DemeterAD9. It’s definitely not albino but it shows the pigmentation a leuscistic mallard would present.
Thank you. There is a leuscistic mallard in the river by our house and she just had a clutch and they are hazelnut and yellow. Really cute! I wonder if she'll just be a really light one.
