Alchemist Farms

Alchemist Farms is in Sebastopol. The fire is very close to them. I hope everyone is ok out there tonight.

We got ten chicks total over two attempts ended up with 2 Moss Eggers (ended up with one male, one female), 2 Azure Egger (females—pre-sexed), 2 Black Copper Marans (ended up with one male, one female), a Swedish Isbar (ended up female), and 3 Silver Laced Barnevelders (all ended up being male). Our odds were not stellar, especially not with the Barnevelders, which was the breed I wanted most of all. However, Francesca and family are wonderful to work with, very responsive, and I am hoping to eventually get a female Silver Laced Barnevelder. For now, I'm just exhausted from chick rearing and happy our girls seem to be happy and laying well.

I’d like to order from her again, but when I updated her about the deaths, she never replied.

I'm so sorry to hear that two of your chicks died. I'm sure that was heartbreaking.

As a few other posters mentioned, the fires are really terrible here right now and there are new ones in Alchemist's area so she's probably behind. I'm certain that she would want to know what happened with your chicks, so I would recommend sending her another message. When I messaged her a few weeks ago prior to picking up my chicks she missed the message. When I sent her a follow up she responded within less than 24 hours.

I bought some beautiful chicks from Alchemist Farm and I couldn't be happier! They are about 6 weeks old now. I got Cocoa Egger x 2, Heritage Welsummer Chick Alchemist Line x 1, Sage Egger Female Chick x 1, and Moss Egger x 1. The only one I'm sure about breed is the white Moss Egger.

Cool! Did you buy her surprise box of 10 chicks?

I think it's important to take into consideration when buying chicks and eggs from places around the US. Like seasons, natural disasters, postal reliability, and if they been impacted by covid-19. Something to think about to plan ahead.
