the title already says it all: Alert for watched threads does not work.

Were they working previously? You will stop getting alerts for a watched thread if you don't view the thread after getting an alert for it. If that isn't the cause, then you likely don't have watched thread alerts enabled here.

Staff usually see threads posted here, so tagging them is unnecessary unless the question is for a specific staff member.

Yes, they did work before the change to the new system with only the dots or hollow dots.

Well, it is not the cause. I now have to go to my list of watched threads to see the new replies.

And no, the alerts are all enabled.

You're sure that the threads aren't still unread? If you manually navigate to the last page of a watched thread with unread posts, it'll mark it as read, and then you should get an alert for the first post made after the thread was marked as read. If you're certain that you've tested this and still haven't gotten the alert, then it's a weird issue.

I now have to go to my list of watched threads to see the new replies.

I've found that's the best way anyway.
I have 'watched threads' as a favorite button on my browser,
any thread with new replies goes to top of that list.
