Alfalfa cubes have been talked about before. But, it seems everyone says to rehydrate them. Is that because the cubes are too hard or because the alfalfa is too dry. The cubes I have can be broken apart and my chickens love it dry, not so much when it's wet. Also, how much is okay for 11 adult hens and 3 9 week old chicks eat. If I shred it up and give them about a cup of it in the evening when they come back in from free ranging, they eat all of it. Can I do that every day? Feed it more freely? In general, they eat New Country Orgaincs Grower, about 1/2 - 1 c of barley sprouted, and some scratch throw here and there. Thanks!

I don't think it needs to be rehydrated. Mine got alfalfa pellets for a while and liked them.
