Alfalfa Meal as Part of a Feed Mixture

As I switch back into using a wetted / fermented feed mixture I have begun using alfalfa meal (17% crude protein) to keep egg color into the orange. Dry and cubed caused lots of wastage through billing. First access to the mix is going over very well.

Are there other health benefits from the alfalfa or is it just for egg colour?

I was looking into adding some to my rooster's feed but can only find online 'alfalfa seeds for sprouting', as they are described. Do you know if I can feed these seeds directly or if they must be sprouted?

Alfalfa is great for added fiber, which helps with digestion.

I've been looking into it for months. I've found my chickens like the dehydrated alfalfa meal rehydrated. They like the pellets dry.
